Match Reports Division Three

Week commencing 25 October 2010

Ryton Park Dragons 3, Stanley Street "B" 7

The Stanley Street rota rolls on with yet another fine win which puts them top of the division for the first time this season.  Andy Kirkland continues to impress as he hit a fine brace before partnering his son Jack to an excellent doubles win over Andy Bell and Jack James.  Jack added two more singles wins with Glyn Williams also defeating Bell and James to complete the victory. Gary Scott won all his three games for the Dragons, his first treble in the league.

The Centre were without captain Simon Thorpe and they struggled to come to terms with their opponents who were looking for some easy prey.  The win takes the big cats up to second in the promotion race and with both Chris Cutts and Thomas Rix hitting top form it will take a good side to stop them reaching the top three at the business end of the season.  Both players hit trebles with Dave Rix adding two more before partnering Thomas to a fine doubles win.  Steve Sampson spared the Centre's blushes with his first win of the season over Dave Rix.

Week commencing 18 October 2010

Derek Piper and Kyle McIntosh netted excellent trebles for the winners with two more coming from David Cowburn.  The Dragons hit back with a single win for Gary Scott plus victory in the doubles when Scott and Andrew Bell paired up to defeat McIntosh and Cowburn.

DTH Redlands Echidnas 5, Ryton Park Cougars 5

These two challenging teams fought out a 5-5 draw to close the gap at the top to just one point behind Stanley St "B".  The match could have gone either way after a Chris Cutts treble for the Cougars had them ahead.  The Echidnas fought back however following a George Agnew double and one each from Matthew Williams and Ewan Pickersgill, but the Cougars Dave Rix won a further two leaving the doubles as the vital decider.  As it turned out Pickersgill and Agnew held their young nerves for the Echidnas to take the draw after winning 11-9 in the fifth against Cutts and Dave Rix.
